The Dallas Metropolitan YMCA awarded Canterbury's very own Pritul Sarker this evening at their annual awards banquet. He was nominated along with many other Dallas youth leaders but won based on his tireless volunteer work with Canterbury's middle school Youth & Government team. Pritul and his parents were in attendance to receive this very prestigious honor.

The YMCA Youth Character Award honors worthy young people who embody the four YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. The award is to recognize those whose lives and achievements demonstrate an enduring commitment to qualities associated with good character.

Pritul is a 9th grader at Canterbury Episcopal School. He participated in Junior Youth and Government for three years, winning Distinguished Delegate and serving on the Governor's Cabinet.  Pritul has volunteered countless hours of his very busy schedule to our JYG team this year. Not only has he mentored our young students with his knowledge and experience, but he has volunteered at both our District Conference and at our state conference. Pritul is truly a selfless, giving, and dedicated young man who sees the immense value in the YMCA, Youth & Government, and doing everything in his power to make the future of his school, his state, and our nation brighter through his hard work and sacrifice to those around him and his community.
