DeSoto Kicks Off the Holiday Season with the 43rd Annual Hometown Holiday Parade
DeSoto will kick off the celebration of the holiday season on Saturday, December 5th with the 43rd Annual Hometown Holiday Parade at 5:30 pm. The parade themed “Jump for Joy”, begins on north Hampton Road and Seahawk and travels south on Hampton ending at DeSoto Town Center.
DeSoto has tapped David W. Carter High School’s legendary football coach, Freddie James, as Grand Marshal of the parade. The story of the 1988 Carter football team led by Coach James is the subject of the recent movie Carter High.
We are also pleased to announce that The Ocean of Soul Marching Band from Texas Southern University in Houston will be traveling to DeSoto for our parade. Known for its sound, heavy beat, precision drills, and intricate dance routines, The Ocean of Soul Band performs at university home football games, on national television, and before crowds at professional athletic games. Their appearance in the DeSoto Hometown Holiday parade provides a great opportunity for the community to see them “up close”.
In keeping with the “Jump for Joy” theme, the Lake Dallas Falcon Flyers Jump Club will also be on hand. The Falcon Flyers performance team provides high school, college and professional basketball halftime entertainment and entertains at community and civic organizations throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area.
In addition to these great performances, you’ll also see lighted floats and parade entries representing local school, youth sports, church, and community groups.
Make plans to join us along Hampton Road between Seahawk and Pleasant Run Roads for the 43rd Annual Hometown Holiday Parade. For more information call Carolyn Campbell at 972.230.9651.
