The Canterbury Cougar Girls and Boys Track Team came out victorious in many events at the 2A state meet on May 6^th and 7^th. Our girls’ team finished as state runner-up, and our boys took home the bronze after a two point difference for first place.   Our talented athletes broke five of our school records at the state meet making a total of nine school records broken for the 2016 season.  The boys and girls track team took home nine medals from the state meet with six of them being gold medals.

Zachary Rufus, senior, brought home three gold medals from the state meet.  He dominated the 100 meter dash(11.13) and 200 meter dash(22.94) and anchored the winning 4X100 meter relay team(44.29) with Donovan Jones, senior, Derreck Neal, junior, and Paraksh Vankawala, senior.  Paraksh Vankawala also brought home a gold medal in the High Jump(6-04) and competed in the Triple Jump.

Triniti Lemmons lead our girls team with three gold medal finishes, too.  Triniti took home the gold in the Triple Jump(34-11.25), lead our 4X100 relay team(52.08) and 4X200 relay team(1:51.27) to a first place finish, and also took home a bronze medal in the 300 meter hurdles(50.99).  Timon Brown, our anchor for both the 4X100 and 4X200 relay teams, finished her senior year competing in four events at the state meet bringing home two gold medals.
