Though the Dallas County Department of Health & Human Services has not released updated statistics since 2017, STI and HIV infections continue to rise in Dallas County. PHNTX, one of North Texas’ largest sexual healthcare providers, has opened the Health Center in response to a large influx of new patients seen in the last year, many of which sought STI testing and treatment.

Located on the Baylor campus, the clinic is near several public transportation outlets, making it easier for South and Central Dallas residents to access care at the clinic. The Worth Street Health Center offers a full range of STI testing, including HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, as well as sexual health counseling and PrEP education and initiation.

“Dallas unfortunately still remains at the epicenter for sexually transmitted infections and new HIV infections,” says Dr. John Carlo, Chief Executive Officer. “Without greatly expanding clinical services in the area, we will never be able to catch up.”

Those interested in receiving care from this clinic are directed to make appointments at phntx.org. The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed daily from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
