Distribution of Funds Luncheon

 

The 2020 Distribution of Funds Meeting and Luncheon held at the Bowden Events and Weddings Center in Keller celebrated their 25th year of giving.  Fourteen 501c3 agencies were recipients of grants and 13 KISD graduating seniors received  scholarships.  A total of $112,500.00 was raised this year.   The annual fundraiser was not held in 2020 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and this total is due largely in part from our generous sponsors and club members donating ticket and sponsorship money.

 

Grants totaling $72,500 were awarded to:  Arts Council Northeast,  Battered Women’s Foundation,  CASA of Tarrant County,  Christ’s Haven for Children,  Community Enrichment Center,  Community Storehouse,  Friends of the Library,  Metro port Meals on Wheels,  Mid-Cities Care Corp,  Neuro assistance Foundation,  North Texas SNAP,  Safe Haven,  Summer Santa,  The Warm Place,  Victory Therapy Center.

 

Scholarships in the amount of $40,000 were awarded to:  Saige Allen,  

Kaylee Billstone,  Helen Bui,  Aynika Cleveland,  Brenna Downey,  Leslie Hill King,  Maddalena Lupold,  Alyssa Moreno,  Susan Snow, Danielle Conejo, Gavin McGruffin, Alyssa Rodriguez and Susanna Lewis received the Linda Bowden Memorial Scholarship.

 

Since the GKWC Foundation was established 25 years ago over $1.5 million in grants to area non-profit organizations and scholarships to KISD graduating seniors has been  donated beginning in 1996.

 

Debbie Reynolds was recognized as the Greater Keller Women’s Club 2019 Shining Star, an annual award of the Northeast Arts Council honoring volunteers.  Debbie is the epitome of the meaning “Volunteer”.   She works tirelessly giving back with her time , talents, determination and enthusiasm.

 

Th GKWC has been a member of the President’s Volunteer Service Award program since 2009, a program that recognizes an ongoing commitment to the community wellbeing and continued civic participation.  The GKWC is involved in more than 25 annual planned charitable events each year, accumulating volunteer hours totaling 12,500 this past year.

 

The GKWC mission is to further the common goal and general welfare of the community and to provide a means to pursue mutual interests and participate in the community.
